GO DADDY GO ("DADDY") - When Molly first saw a chestnut pacer, caked in mud, sitting in a dealers lot. The dealer said the horse, winner of hundreds of thousands of dollars, was "ready to race" and they wanted at least Amish price or else he's off to the auction. Molly reached out to New Start Standardbreds, the incredible organization who stepped in to help this Breeders Crown horse Molly had taken him under her wing. Daddy Go was on a trailer headed to Molly and he got off the trailer dead lame Molly wanted to have him be a "horse" so he spent that winter in Florida; soaking up the sun, napping and doing his very favorite activity: eating. 6 months later Molly brought him home to CT. He got off the trailer still a bit off and she started digging into his history when a stranger reached out to her with the truth: they ran him into the ground. Not only was this horse not "ready to race," they knowingly sold the horse without disclosing anything. If it wasn't for Molly who bought him, he would've been dead. After Molly knew the full story, they were able to properly rehab him to a 100% recovery. Finally, 8 months into our journey, Molly's vet cleared him to begin riding. They broke him to ride and within 2 weeks he was in a show ring. The horse was a competitor. He worked, he learned and he tried. Within 6 months he was named 2023 Rookie Horse of the Year as a National year end title given by SPHONJ.
Today, he leads the race for U.S. 2024 Horse of the Year with 30 days left by over 300 points. Go Daddy Go is a hero. He never gave up and his will to win carried over into racing, riding and his entire attitude on life. He was a life that was worth more than a muddy field and an Amish auction hip tag.
The first picture is every single ribbon the horse won over 18 months in his new career.
